The Marxmen Group Organisation is comprised of a youth group, currently about 21 strong, that has music, drill and dance amongst their main interests. They are members of the British Youth Band Association (BYBA). (Continued below)

The purpose of this web site is to provide you, the visitor, with as much information about the Marxmen Group as possible. At the same time it gives our young members a forum where they can communicate amongst themselves and with others that have similar interests. This is all part of the process of growing up and maturing into adults. We think that we provide the discipline that is required at certain times but still have a “little fun” along the way. We know that this is all for the benefit of each individual member. The forum is an open on the Internet and we as the responsible adults must monitor the activities of our members and those of the public on our web site. Pleased be warned that we do not tolerate unsuitable material being posted to our Guest Books and Forums.

The Return toContesting

2004, four seasons ago the Marxmen returned to contesting in division 4 of The British Youth Band Association's contesting circuit after an absence of 1 year. They secured themselves in 9th place for both the league and the National Finals with music from "Jesus Christ Superstar". Not many bands successfully manage to make such a return as this. They could easily be called the 'New Generation' Marxmen. Three seasons ago, 2005, they improved their position to 5th in both the league and the National Finals with music from "Little Shop of Horrors".

The 2006 season could well have seen the Marxmen climb higher in division 4 with music from the Eagles. (Which included Take It Easy, Heartache Tonight and Desperado). However they finished in a credible 8th position. Last season saw the departure of many members, but the Marxmen are going to march in the new junior division of BYBA. Their aim was just to compete and hopefully go onto the finals. The show music was called "BACK to the 60's" (a selection of Rock and Roll). It was going to be a very tough year for the Marxmen, but they achieved their best ever league and national finals result. What a year (2006) that was.

It was the intention that a Marxmen Guard was to be put into the Winter Guard UK circuit in Junior class for the 2005 season. Owing to the 2004 Christmas Concert commitments and other reasons this was deferred to 2006. Problems then deferred the 2007 season and once again It has now been decided that they will concentrate on BYBA contesting and Winter Guard must be put, once again, on the back burner. This also now applies to the 2008 season. Just like each other seasons the WGUK circuit will still be watched so that our guard can be prepared if necessary.
